As a Great American Roadtrip destination, Niagara Falls continues to mesmerize travelers with its magnificent display of strength and beauty. Join Travel Crazy as we head for this Natural Wonder of the World, armed with a fun-filled itinerary sure to thrill our guests.
Our trip will begin with a swift jaunt to Niagara Falls, where hotel accommodations (on the Canadian Side) will place us right in the middle of the city's lively tourist district, within walking distance of Casino Niagara, and a mere block away from the Falls!
During our 3-night stay, we'll experience the many faces of Niagara Falls through several exciting activities. A sightseeing cruise aboard the world-famous Maid of the Mist will carry us to the base of the falls, where as it towers above us, we will be able to feel the mist of its waters and sense the trembling of its roar. An evening ride upon the Niagara Skywheel--a giant 175-foot ferris wheel toting comfortable, climate controlled gondolas--will afford us spectacular aerial views of The Falls during its colorful illumination and the glittering lights of Clifton Hill below. And, an exhilarating Cave of the Winds tour will allow us the opportunity to get within a few feet of where the American Falls crashes to the rocks below. Ponchos and sandals are provided to everyone joining this tour, which comes in handy for those who decide to climb the steps to the aptly named Hurricane Deck.
During our visit to White Water Walk, we'll be able to see what happens to the water after it tumbles over The Falls. Located 2 miles downstream from the falls, the boardwalk through the Great Gorge provides a lovely stroll alongside the turbulent rushing water of the Niagara River.
To enhance our trip to Niagara Falls, we will be joined by a local guide for a tour of the Niagara region. Not only will our guide provide us with a history of the area and lore of daredevils whom challenged the mighty falls, but she will take us on a side trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. This neighboring historic village has the distinction of being considered the Prettiest Town in Canada. We'll spend a few hours window shopping and browsing around this charming flower-filled village.
Our adventure to Niagara Falls will come to an end with our last day finding us motorcoaching back to Kentucky.
As many of our regular travelers know, Moab, Utah is one of our favorite destinations. Usually we use this gateway town to Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Park as a component for our longer Southwestern trips.
Moab is such a fun place to visit, offering up an assortment of exciting outdoor adventures in a landscape that is so different from our part of the country. Being that it has thrilled so many of our extended trip travelers in the past, we wanted to afford to those who prefer shorter trips the opportunity to enjoy Moab, too!
This 8-day/7-night trip to Moab, Utah does just that!
Our trip will begin with a swift motorcoach jaunt to the edge of the Rocky Mountains, overnighting in Kansas City and Denver. After spending the night in Denver, we’ll be treated to a 4-day parade of non-stop excitement!
That parade will begin with a drive through the Rocky Mountains. This 4-hour drive, considered to be one of the prettiest in our country, will surround us with towering mountains that make the Smokeys seem like foothills. Being that we’ve scheduled this trip in September, we might be lucky enough to catch the Aspens changing colors!
After emerging from The Rockies, we’ll receive our first sampling of rugged desert scenery with a visit to Colorado National Monument. Located at the edge of the Colorado Plateau, the monument encompasses magnificent golden canyons and towering sandstone formations. Driving along the monument’s 22-mile rim drive, we will stop at several overlooks to marvel at its sheer walls and reaching spires.
Following our exploration of Colorado National Monument, a gorgeous drive along the Colorado River will bring us to Moab, Utah—a small town that sits at the base of the La Salle Mountains, making it a jewel in the desert. During our 3-night stay in Moab, we will capitalize upon several exciting activities, utilizing the town as it was meant to be used—as a center for outdoor recreation. Our fun will begin as we drop in on the Bar M Chuckwagon for a down-home chuckwagon dinner and live toe-tapping western entertainment.
The following morning, we will be joined by a local guide for a tour of Arches National Park. The park is known for having the greatest density of natural arches in the world. In addition to arches, curious red and orange sandstone formations such as pinnacles and balanced rocks dot the park, making Arches National Park a fascinating place to visit.
Later that evening, we will board a sightseeing boat which will carry us up the Colorado River for a Canyonlands by Night cruise. When the sun falls and the stars begin to shine brilliantly in the big desert sky, the boat turns around and begins to float back downstream. As it does, self-powered vehicles along the river light up the canyon walls and inspirational music fills the air. This unbelievable evening on the Colorado River beneath a star-filled sky is one of the most unusual sightseeing attractions in the United States!
Our next day in Moab will find us boarding 4-wheel vehicles for an incredible journey into Canyonlands National Park. Our guided off-road tour will carry us from the rim of Canyonland’s awe-inspiring canyon all the way down to the valley floor below. The jeep trail’s winding track along the canyon wall will yield us dramatic red rock views most visitors to Moab never see.
Once at the bottom, we will be treated to a picnic lunch on the banks of the Colorado River. Then, our adventure will continue as we board a jetboat for an exhilarating ride through Canyonlands National Park.
Our jetboat and jeep tour will be a thrilling full-day of entertainment; a perfect climax to our visit to Moab.
Following our 3-night stay in Moab, we’ll begin heading back east through the Rocky Mountains. On our way to overnight once again in Denver, we will stop for a few hours in the ski-town of Breckenridge, Colorado. The historic downtown area of Breckenridge is lined with gift shops and eateries—a great place to eat lunch and search for that one last souvenir to take back home!
From Denver, an overnight stop in Kansas City will be the only thing separating us from our arrival in Kentucky.
